GM and Chevy Show Their Trans Pride – Transformers 2 Pride

General Motors is showing off their Trans Pride and the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with a special “Chevrolet’s Gay Day at the Movies.” The LGBT community meet-up in Los Angeles is sponsored by GM and looks to be one of the biggest movie moments of the summer. Or will it?

Director Michael Bay is furious at Paramount for claiming they’re not promoting his film as widely as the first feature. And to be honest, how many trailers, TV spots and bus stop posters do you see for this film? Not as many as half the plugs that are out there for this film as were for Star Trek, Terminator: Salvation and other summer action films.

According to Bay’s Email: “I’ve been locked away editing for six months, but I have been waiting and waiting for the “anticipation” of an “event movie” to make it to the “public zeitgeist.” You all talk so glowingly about “Transformers” being the movie of the summer but unfortunately this has not gotten to the public. I still run into so many people even this weekend with kids that ask “is that movie coming out this year?” Your owner Sumner went on air in wall street last week talking how Paramount was going to claim the summer with “Star Trek” and “GI Joe…” Yikes – do you think Bay is a little pissed?

But don’t let that ruin your Gay Day at the Movies: featured at the event – BUMBLEBEE, the heroic AUTOBOT based on Chevrolet’s Camaro concept, SIDESWIPE – a stylized Corvette vision concept vehicle, SKIDS and MUDFLAP – twin AUTOBOT Chevy Beats and JOLT – an AUTOBOT-based on Chevy’s upcoming Volt.

Will Chevy Back Out of Transformers 2?

More then meet’s the eye? Not when it comes to commercial advertising. Due to this wonderful financial depression America’s auto industry is plummeting into Chevrolet has decided not to oversell their appearance in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Chevy is not planning to produce a group of Transformers-style vehicles, nor will you see an over-abundance of Transformers/Chevrolet tie-in commercials. GM simply can’t afford such a bold marketing move, as they could during the release of 2007′s film, their marketing budget has been cut by $800 million dollars! Perhaps it’s time for Chevy to look into better online marketing strategies. It worked for Cloverfield.

Transformers 2 Trailer Full of Chevy Goodness

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be chock full of General Motors vehicles, as was the first film in this series. Last night’s Super Bowl spot featured reformed drunk driver Shia LaBeouf reprising his roll as Sam Witwicky (are you serious? Witwicky??) battling it out with the likes of a Chevrolet Volt, Corvette Centennial, and everyone child’s favorite semi-tractor trailer – Optimus Prime.

One thing we did notice is the lack of “in your face” Chevy logos during this spot. This may fuel the rumors, along with a spied Audi R8, that Transformers 2 will not be as GM heavy as the original film. Chevrolet did request their new Chevy Volt electric car be featured “for at least 60 seconds” in the film’s final edit.Some of the confirmed vehicles coming down GM’s line include the aforementioned Corvette:

One thing we can tell from last night’s TV spot – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will have more Chevy destructiveness than the upcoming Star Trek movie, where Kirk wrecks his uncle’s Corvette.
