And before we get off on the wrong foot with the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro, one should remember a base Camaro will only put you back $22,995 – not pocket change, but nothing near the price tag of some high performance German and Japanese vehicles. $22K will give the buyer a 3.6 liter V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower. This also isn’t the 1984 “I get 15 miles to the gallon” Camaro – 2009′s model ranges 27 mpg highway.

If you really want to blow your wallet load, a top of the line Camaro SS with manual transmission features a 6.2 liter LS3 V8 engine, producing 422 horse power. So, we ask you – can one car save an entire company from going under? It worked with Plymouth and their K back in the 80′s – but then again look where Plymouth is now.
