Ever wonder how they construct the unique shell for the upcoming 2010 Chevrolet Volt hybrid-electric cars? Well now, thanks to this nifty PR video by GM, you can check it out from home. The video, seen below courtesy of Autoblog, shows a few interesting tidbits…if you view between the lines. First off, we see a newly placed Volt Charging Port, the circle welded through located below Volt’s nameplate. Second, they make sure you know these guys working on the vehicle are “UAW” certified – meaning they probably get paid $85 an hour to spot weld that door hinge. Lastly – there’s maybe 5 humans working on all those cars? The robots are taking over, Skynet is next. Enjoy one of the last cars still made in America!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be chock full of General Motors vehicles, as was the first film in this series. Last night’s Super Bowl spot featured reformed drunk driver Shia LaBeouf reprising his roll as Sam Witwicky (are you serious? Witwicky??) battling it out with the likes of a Chevrolet Volt, Corvette Centennial, and everyone child’s favorite semi-tractor trailer – Optimus Prime.

One thing we did notice is the lack of “in your face” Chevy logos during this spot. This may fuel the rumors, along with a spied Audi R8, that Transformers 2 will not be as GM heavy as the original film. Chevrolet did request their new Chevy Volt electric car be featured “for at least 60 seconds” in the film’s final edit. Some of the confirmed vehicles coming down GM’s line include the aforementioned Corvette:

GMC model Ratchet and Ironhide:

2010 Chevy Volt:

and Arcee the Crotch Rocket:

One thing we can tell from last night’s TV spot – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will have more Chevy destructiveness than the upcoming Star Trek movie, where Kirk wrecks his uncle’s Corvette.
