The GM E-Rod Concept, Classic Green

Chevrolet is producing a classic car that is all hybrid, the E-Rod concept. It’s the perfect combination of a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air coupe and the Volt. GM Performance Parts has unveiled their new E-ROD concept.

Designed to be fully-compliant with emissions standards set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the E-Rod has a 430 hp LS3 V8 crate engine, featuring modified exhaust manifolds, special engine control module and a variety of eco-minded sensors. The concept is able to average 23 mpg and produce emissions that are comparable to a Chevrolet Camaro SS.

According to Dr. Jamie Meyer, product integration manager for GM Performance Parts, “The world of hot rodding is changing, and GMPP is leading the way with engine systems and supporting components that enable enthusiasts to build a car that complies with the law, satisfies their desire for a cleaner hot rod and doesn’t sacrifice the performance they want.”
