Too Much Truck for Chevy – Silverado ZR2 Concept
Made for SEMA and most likely never to be a mass produce vehicle – the Chevy Silverado ZR2 Concept is a 550 horse power rocket of an ass-hauling pickup that makes us wan to dream of dirt roads. Silverado ZR2 concept
At a glance, it’s clear the Silverado ZR2 concept wasn’t designed to haul flowers back from the nursery. With its widened body, tall stance and powerful LS supercharged engine, it is ready to hit the berms, dry washes and gullies of the Baja Peninsula.
The Silverado ZR2 is based on an extended cab/short box body. The custom bodywork includes carbon fiber fender flares that stretch outward to cover the 35-inch-tall Goodyear Wrangler off-road tires and widened stance. Much of the truck’s body is made of carbon fiber, including the front fenders, extractor-style hood, rocker extensions and tailgate, which features large, debossed CHEVROLET lettering as a nod to Chevy trucks of the past.
The pickup box, which is protected with a spray-on liner, features a unique locking storage system mounted to the extruded aluminum Cargo Management System rails from Chevy Accessories.
Many of the carbon fiber parts, including the hood, are clear-coated, rather than painted, to show off the intricate weave pattern of the high-tech, lightweight material. The parts that aren’t clear carbon fiber are painted Dune Metallic, a color that blends with the desert terrain. A large, more prominent grille is also part of the package and is a vision of what designers would like to see in a production or accessory part. It is very functional, feeding cool air to the 550-horsepower LS supercharged crate engine from GM Performance Parts.
The combination of 20-inch BBS RD wheels – reminiscent of historic Chevy truck wheel – and aggressive Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires connect to the chassis via BDS shocks and a four-inch lift kit to help negotiate those desert trails. The new front fascia dramatically improves approach angle and skid plates protect the chassis.
The interior features more carbon fiber details on the dash, along with black leather and suede-trimmed seats with contrasting stitching to those trail runs more comfortable.
“There’s more to this concept than meets the eye,” said Dewar. “Some of the components are being explored for possible inclusion in upcoming models.”
I like it – nice alternative to the aggressive nissans and toyota fullsize pickups.
I like it, I hope they do build it and kinda think they will, cause ford built the SVT raptor. Plus chev built the 2500HD’s with the 8.1L with 345HP a few years back. I added alot of bolt on’s to mine to get it over the 500HP mark. Would be nice to be able to buy a truck with 500HP from the factory and not have to add alot of bolt on’s. But 600 or 700HP would be fun to.

GM would be stupid if they dont make that truck. Ford steped up to the plate and ford sucks. This zr2 would blow the doors off the raptor.

WOW! i have been a die-hard-chevy fanatic all my life, but never have i seen one badd truck as this one. im tired of all my ford friends bragging about the f-150 raptor svt, i say GM should step up and show them whose the real king in off-roading; although it would be very expensive(probably the reason it wont be massed produced) i think GM should let the puppy out of its cage and just make it all ready. im bout to start a facebook group publicizing this truck, because i had no idea they even made a Zr2 until a week ago! LONG LIVE CHEVROLET!
pleeeaseee make it! tht will totally kill the f150 raptor’s ass.. ford sucks and tht will blow thier engines out and fall out from the bottom of the frame..

i like it except they should put a duramax engine in it chevy needs to step up its diesel performance and i’m tired of seeing these new chevy trucks with such small stock tires this is a refreshing step up for chevy
GM should not hold back on this one, the lifted offroad truck world is exploding and they could make millions on this truck, the best part of this truck is the suspension GM did not build the suspension they went to BDS Suspension and had them do a high clearance 4″ lift for it, This means it is aftermarket and would take 50 times more abuse than anything ford could build for the Raptor, I guess chev does’nt want to take the market over because they would if they built this one. Ford would have to pay GM not to build it just so ford could keep selling there cheap ass trucks.
It would be insane to not make this truck. and if Chevy Does not it would be a mistake i guarantee that this truck would blow the competitors out of the game will over pass sells of even Chevys own trucks. It would be named vehicle of the year the truck would go down in legacy as the greatest of great i would personally buy one
I am from Tahiti and I do have a chevy silverado Z71 1991 and I’ve loved it. 2O1O model is a little bit mastock, the front bumper si too big. But this one, the ZR2 is very very nice. All the front body is in one piece, no front bumper detach any more.With the 6.6L duramax diesel engine, custom made chrome accessories, white letter on tires and so…., it will kill the Ford raptor. Do not hesitate make it. Don’t forget, outside the United States Diesel engine is required, more economic. Sure we gonna buy it.
hey i think this car would be awsome, but i am a not a chevy fan. i kinda like the chevy body style and the horse power.
We need to boycott Chevrolet until they make this truck for production. I just seen this truck yesterday at the Motor Trend car show in Tampa, FL. This thing looks a hundred times more aggressive in person. I love chevy trucks and if this truck doesn’t come out im never buying a chevy again. I am truly in love with this truck. Please put it out for sale even if you have to drop the hp a little. Please do whatever is needed to sell this truck….
Okay. So this is a neat looking truck. Looks pretty well built. Dont get me wrong here I am a HUGE chevy fan and always will be but come on! This is a try to remake model of the raptor. I actually emailed chevrolet a couple of days ago telling them what would be a good idea for chevy and gave them many options to choose from if they decided to make a “chevy raptor”. I just dont see how this is all that much different than me buying a silverado and adding some costom whells and paint and lift to it. I know they could do better with this. It just takes time and engineering.
They emailed me back and said they were sending my email to the design team and engineering team. lets see if I ever get any feedback…

Agreed though, that you could very easily make this truck yourself, but the Raptor comes stock with beefy suspension, wider body, and BF Goodrich A/T tires (my favorite tire). As much as I like this Chevy it could use some more mods, maybe an even wider stance could do some good. and performance suspension?

Just look at all the lifetime chevy and gmc fans that want this truck to be built. im a senior in highschool and this chevrolet motivates me to get up every morning to attempt to piss with a hard-on from dreaming about this truck at night. there is nothing that makes me more wet than the sight of this truck and i am begging you GM, please make this happen, do something big!!!! your people have all of this potential and obviously the skill to pull this off. all of these ideas you are hiding in your fucking vault please bring them to life so we can show all of the ford and dodge fans what the fuck CHEVY is and what you can do!!!!
Wow. The kid had alot to say. Anyway it is beautiful. You dont mind if I build it do you? I work at a shop with everything I need to do it. On the other hand. I own a 2000 Cherolet Silverado 2500 6.0L, And I really dont want another truck. Mine happens to be my favorite body style, I have also modified it a little. Just enough to blow the Ford punks off the road. Even the pesky little rustangs! But love the body on this! Serious, If I build it you wont get mad will ya. Want to build a concept in our shop and we have thought of a bowtie for a while. Love Cherolet and couldnt be more proud of you guys! You could build a scooter concept and still blow away any ford auto! lol…JOEY
