How To Build a Chevy Volt

Ever wonder how they construct the unique shell for the upcoming 2010 Chevrolet Volt hybrid-electric cars? Well now, thanks to this nifty PR video by GM, you can check it out from home. The video, seen below courtesy of Autoblog, shows a few interesting tidbits…if you view between the lines. First off, we see a newly placed Volt Charging Port, the circle welded through located below Volt’s nameplate. Second, they make sure you know these guys working on the vehicle are “UAW” certified – meaning they probably get paid $85 an hour to spot weld that door hinge. Lastly – there’s maybe 5 humans working on all those cars? The robots are taking over, Skynet is next. Enjoy one of the last cars still made in America!
