Feds to Aid GM/Chrysler Merger?
Because if movies like Goodfellas and Casino taught us anything, it’s that the Federal Government becoming involved is always a positive step (we at Chevroletpedia love and obey without question!) But it looks like the Men in Black may be helping out if this General Motors & Chrysler merger goes down.

Michigan Senator Carl Levin is at the forefront of this suggestion – he feels it would be in the best interest of both General Motors, Chrysler and the Detroit automotive industry to have the Federal Government play a roll in aiding this major merger. Levin did not have any specifics about what department(s) could help the buy out joining of these two automotive giants, but he feels no deal this large should be done with only business owners: “No other country in the world would stand by and watch major corporations go under this way without trying to do something about it.”
Hopes are the Feds can step in with additional job training in hopes that an abundance of employment won’t be lost if and when the companies come together. Michigan (and the Midwestern auto industry in general) is already struggling from massive lay offs and assembly live closures.

We can only hope that this merger will be better managed than most in recent history. G.M needs to take the time to find the very best talent in each company and put together a truely superior team to competre in the automotive industry. Many such mergers ( buy-outs) simply dump all the talent in the company being bought and keep many of their current staff even though they are less valuable than those in the company being bought. This kind of thinking is the reason many of the mergers don’t really work out well. It is a powerful reflection of the management team.
